The Message of Saint Bernadette

The message of Saint Bernadette is "Every human being is precious in God's eyes". We are all brothers and sisters. God welcomes us as we are, no matter what we did or did not do. His pardon and Love are greater than any of our human values. God loves us more than we can imagine. Saint Bernadette was poor, ill and considered so insignificant in people's eyes and yet she was chosen to show us this message from God. She was not a mystic or a complicated minded person but she lived her faith deeply and simply.

Her story began as a young girl at Lourdes when she saw a woman in white with a bright blue belt. St. Bernadette was not sure what she was seeing. She would see the woman again and the woman would direct her to say the rosary, and to drink the water which St. Bernadette dug into the ground to find. This was the healing water of Lourdes that St. Bernadette had been chosen to bring to the world but her story doesn't end there. She continued to devote her life to God as a Sister of Charity doing God's work.

The Mission of the Friends of Saint Bernadette

Our mission is to tell the rest of the story of Saint Bernadette which does not end at Lourdes. We are inviting you to visit the convent in Nevers, France and see for yourself the humble life she lead and her incorrupt body which is so very beautiful and intact.

Many times tourists will visit Lourdes without visiting the convent where Saint Bernadette devoted her life to God's work. Going to Nevers is an experience never to be forgotten. Besides seeing her beautiful incorrupt body you will also be able to see the lovely peaceful gardens where Saint Bernadette spent many hours in spiritual contemplation.

You are invited by the good sisters and our dear St. Bernadette to stay at their beautiful convent (known as Espace Bernadette) and lovely gardens for a day, a week, or for as long as you wish to stay! Here many organizations from all over the world enjoy having quiet tranquil retreats with many blessings. One will complete St. Bernadette's very profound precious story, and enjoy God's many blessings. It is a very holy and prayerful experience. I guarantee you will leave there never feeling the same! Though St. Bernadette was very tiny she had a hugh apostolic soul. There at the convent, Saint Bernadette has so much more to tell us if only we will accept her loving invitation! She lived every moment of her life loving no matter what the cost! Just think what this world would be like if all of us tried, just a little, to live that precious model! She truly was a pure and humble vessel of holiness.

The following quote came from St. Bernadette's notes. "The Eucharist bathes the tormented soul in light and love. Then the soul appreciates these words: 'Come all you who are sick, I will restore your health.'" The association of Friends of Saint Bernadette is dedicated to Pope John Paul II and his proclaiming this year the Eucharistic year! "We want to lovingly encourage everyone to attend Adoration and Communion, during this special year and receive so many of the Popes Blessings.

The association of "Friends of Saint Bernadette" was formed October 7, 2004, on the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary. Headquartered in Palm Coast, Florida USA by Ann & Dick Smith. We would love to pray for you. If you have any prayer petitions for St. Bernadette please email us at dickandann@friendsofbernadette.org .
